GOKIDS LEADERS

Echo Grijalva - Family Ministries Director
Echo oversees our GoKids (Nursery–5th Grade) and Student Ministries (6th–12th Grade), partnering with parents and guardians to help children and students grow in their relationship with Jesus. A graduate of Rhema Bible Training College, Echo has nearly 20 years of experience serving in children’s and youth ministry on the Central Coast. She is passionate about helping the next generation build a strong foundation of faith and discover God’s purpose for their lives. Outside of ministry, Echo enjoys hiking, spending time at the beach, and making new memories with friends and family.

Christian Menke - GoKids Director
Christian is one of the Directors of Go Kids at Monterey Church, where she has been a member since 2024. Growing up in Salinas, Christian’s fond childhood memories of church inspire her passion for helping kids grow in their faith. She and her husband, Nate, have two teenage children, Vivian and David. Christian is passionate about fostering greater parent involvement in children’s ministry and creating meaningful connections between “Big Church” and kids’ church to ensure God remains central throughout their lives. In her free time, she enjoys staying active with CrossFit, immersing herself in a good book, and cherishing moments with friends and family.

Cindy Ortega - GoKids Director
Born and raised in Monterey, Cindy loves serving the community that helped shape her faith. She loves spending time with her nephew and three nieces, helping them grow in God's Word and watching their faith develop. Cindy's passion for kids ministry comes from her own story of drifting away from her faith in early middle school and eventually realizing that life apart from Jesus wasn't the path she wanted to follow. That experience gave her a heart for helping the next generation build a strong foundation in Christ. Cindy wants every child to know that knowing Jesus doesn't remove life's challenges, but it gives us hope, purpose, and someone to walk through them with. When she's not serving, she enjoys cold plunging along the Monterey coast, hiking at Garland Ranch, trying new restaurants, or planning her next Disney adventure. Cindy alsos love slowing down and appreciating God's beauty in everyday life.

Jooeun Kim - GoKids Director
Jooeun “June” Kim is originally from Seoul, South Korea. After graduating from Kennesaw State University in Georgia, she achieved a master’s degree in Teaching Foreign Language (TFL) at Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). As she grows in her career in education, she continues to learn more of God’s heart for His children everyday. She likes watching sunsets at the beach, drinking coffee and obviously, eating Korean food.

Kaitlyn Abbott - GoKids Director
Kaitlyn moved here in 2025 with her husband Austin, and two kids, Parker and Emilia Jo while Austin is stationed here at the Naval Post Graduate School. Kaitlyn is an Army veteran, and currently she works for the U.S. Center for SafeSport, where she works in abuse prevention and response for Olympic and Paralympic athletes. She loves supporting all of our fanlilies, but has a heart specifically for ensuring our military families can find and build community here, just as she and her family have.

Kody Rogers - GoKids Director
Kody obtained his bachelors of science degree in criminal justice dedicating a decades worth of service to his community as a police officer in Lemoore and Monterey. His experiences on the force, where he witnessed both the challenges and triumphs of the human spirit, lead to a deeper relationship and appreciation for the grace and love of God. Kody, his wife Paula, and two daughters Gianna and Eliana, can often be found exploring the Monterey Peninsula with its many beaches and trails.

Paula Rogers - GoKids Director
Paula serves as a director at Monterey Church, where she leads alongside her husband, Kody. After moving to the Monterey area, Paula and Kody quickly found their home at Monterey Church, embracing the community. With a foundation of ministry experience from her time serving in the Central Valley, she is passionate about helping children grow to love and live like Jesus. In her free time, Paula enjoys sunset walks along the beautiful Monterey coastline, scouting out new places for dinner, and capturing moments through her love of photography. She considers it a joy and privilege to walk alongside families in nurturing the next generation of Christ-followers.
CHILD DEDICATION

Child Dedications are a joint commitment made by both parents and our church community. Parents commit to raise their child to grow to live and love like Jesus, and the church commits to support the family in the child’s discipleship.
