Founding Pastor and Georgia native, Bryan James, is a graduate of Pentacostal Theological Seminary where he earned a Master’s Degree in Church Leadership with an emphasis on Missions. He and his wife Elaine moved to California in 2005 to launch Monterey Church. In 2012, Pastor Bryan led Monterey Church through a season of reformation into a more missional model, which included overseeing a new church plant in Northern Virginia (where he currently resides) and establishing a robust partnership with Compassion International to release children from poverty in the name of Jesus. Pastor Bryan and Elaine have four children: Rachel, Sarah, Julia and Samuel. Bryan enjoys running, books, and anything and everything related to FSU football.
Moe was born in Newburyport, MA and grew up in Dunnellon, FL. After high school, Moe spent 21 years serving in the United States Air Force with travels to over 20 countries. While serving, he completed his BS in Computer Information Systems and Master’s in Business Administration. Moe and his family were one of the founding families at our Monterey Virginia location. In fact, Kids Church was held in his basement. Moe felt called to serve in larger capacity at Monterey Church. His focus is on the business operations, discipleship and leadership development. Moe and his wife Wendi (also AF veteran) are the parents of three boys; Payton, Avery, and Calen. In his spare time, Moe enjoys sports, working out, cooking, and spending time with the family.
Bobby was born in Fort Ord, CA and grew up in Broward County, FL. He began working with Monterey Church as a Security Guard and became a member shortly thereafter. He is a former Whitewater River Guide, Bill Graham Presents Security Guard, Panetta Institute Employee, and comic shop owner. He has a BA in Philosophy with a minor in Criminal Justice. In addition, he has an MA from Liberty University Theological Seminary in Theology with a Master’s Certificate in Pastoral Counseling. His diverse life experience lends to his solution-focused counseling approach and to his leadership of our discipleship groups. He and his wife Crystal are ministry partners and together they have two kids, Logan and Hailey. They are expecting their third child in June.
Tracia has lived most of her life in Northern Virginia and currently has a home in Manassas. She heard about Monterey Church and was present at our first Sunday meeting in Virginia. She immediately fell in love with the church and has been attending ever since; started serving in our Kids Church as a teacher shortly thereafter, and eventually moved into the role of Director of Kids Church. She loves to travel, have coffee with friends and do volunteer work with Compassion International and Operation Christmas Child.
Luke was born and raised in Northern Virginia. He attended the very first meeting that Monterey Church held in Virginia and fell in love with the church model from day one. He first began attending the youth program (180) at a young age and shortly after made the decision to become a committed member. He is currently pursuing a Business Administration degree. Luke has a passion for seeing the hope and purpose, offered in Jesus Christ, radically change lives. In his free time he enjoys being outdoors, following the Washington Nationals, and spending time with his friends and family.
Jason was born and raised in the Warrenton area. He has a Business Degree from Liberty University. His desire for world missions has taken him to over 10 countries across Africa. Jason was led to Monterey Church in 2013. He met his fiancé Brittney (who is way out his league) here at church in 2015 and is getting married this June! Jason has been serving the church through music, media, student ministry and young adult ministry. He joined our staff in March, 2017. In his free time he loves adventure, the outdoors, music, and playing any sport other than soccer.
